experienced team of antenna system designers with a proven record
involving the design, specification and commissioning of hundreds
of single and combined multi-station FM broadcasting transmission
sites.
VHF
and UHF Television (Analogue and Digital)
The design and specification of both omnidirectional
and directional television transmission facilities. Preparation
of Technical Briefs and applications. Spectrum analysis and channel
allocation studies. The company has designed over 100 VHF and UHF
transmission systems ranging in power from 1 watt to 1 megawatt.
MDS-TV
Multipoint Television Distribution
The design, specification and commissioning of complex
single and multi-frequency antenna systems and combiners for one
way and two way MDS/ITFS communications systems operating on a point
to point or point to multipoint basis in the 2 GHz band. Preparation
of Technical Briefs and applications. Spectrum analysis and channel
allocation studies.
Digital
Radio Broadcasting
Digital Radio systems operating in the 1.4 GHz band
are currently being planned for deployment as a replacement technology
for the AM and FM distribution networks. We have provided Canada?s
broadcasters with the design, specification, budgets and implementation
framework for the multi-station cellular network necessary to provide
seamless service to the most populated regions of Canada. We can
assist all broadcasters with their planning and budgeting process
leading towards the implementation of a DRB strategy.
Low
Frequency Communication Systems
The design, specification and commissioning of complex single and
multi-frequency antenna systems and combiners for Low Frequency
Communication Systems operating between 100kHz and 523 kHz.
High Frequency
Communication Systems
The design, specification and commissioning of complex single and
multi-frequency antenna systems and combiners for high frequency
communication systems operating between 2 MHz and 30 MHz.
VHF and UHF Radio Communication Links
The design and specification of radio communication links for broadcast
and general communications purposes. Point-to-point and mobile systems
have been implemented in the 150 MHz, 450 MHz, 950 MHz and 1.7 GHz
bands. The company has significant experience in the analysis and
implementation of systems with special requirements, over obstructed
path and in congested spectrum applications. Systems have been designed
and implemented include SCADA, telephone and special remote control
and data acquisition networks.
Microwave Systems
The Design and specification of Microwave Systems across the Frequency
band from 2 GHz to 23 GHz for point-to-point and broadband point
to multi-point (MMDS) systems. The Company has designed and specified
some of Canada's largest privately owned terrestrial microwave systems.
The company's engineers are experienced in the use of both space
and frequency diversity techniques and use the latest methods available
for microwave path evaluation.
Millimeter
Wave Systems
The company is in the forefront of proposal and development in the
use of 28 GHz (and higher) frequency band for two-way interactive
cellular communications system design, testing and implementation.
Signal
and Coverage Analysis
The company will complete coverage and signal
evaluation studies for new or existing broadcasting and communications
facilities. RF propagation and signal coverage analysis for all
broadcasting and communications frequency bands. Our wide experience
in this field has led to the development of many special techniques
for evaluation and analysis of special case path studies over obstructed
paths and difficult terrain. With the latest in software and computer
evaluation methods and terrain data bases, path analysis and propagation
studies, including evaluation of existing facilities which have
not achieved their desired coverage objectives can be undertaken.
Broadcast and Communication
Site Design and Implementation
The company has been involved in
many aspects of transmitter site design. The company has designed
and supervised the construction of a number of major single and
multi use, broadcast and communications transmission facilities.
In addition to its own team of experts, the company has worked jointly
with other professionals in this field to provide complete turnkey
services.
Spectrum
Management Studies
The
use of the RF spectrum for broadcasting and communications requires
a complex analysis of potential coverage areas integrated with the
analysis of potential interference to other users of the band. D.E.M.
Allen & Associates Ltd. has been involved in many aspects of
RF spectrum allocation, assignment studies and planning to help
achieve the best coverage consistent with meeting national and international
interference and protection regulations.
RF
Energy Studies and Surveys
Health
and Welfare Canada, Safety Code 6 provides the guidelines for assessment
of the "Limits of Human Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic
Fields in the Frequency Range from 3 kHz to 300 GHz". Because
of our involvement in many high power broadcasting sites in close
proximity to major population centres, we have been at the forefront
in the theoretical assessment and measurement of high density RF
energy and determination of compliance with Safety Code 6.We are
fully equipped to carry out calculations to predict levels of RF
energy from existing or proposed transmitter sites and to carry
out site measurement surveys in accordance with the exposure limit
standards set by the appropriate regulatory authority.
Project
Management, Communication and Testing
The
Company has the expertise, field experience and equipment required
to undertake the project management, commissioning, testing and
evaluation of most broadcast and communications facilities.
